Fort Myers, FL October 15, 2013 - Fort Myers hand surgeon, Dennis Sagini, MD, announces he has hired a new Physician Assistant, Mårten Karlsson. Karlsson began on October 1st, and is now working with Dr. Sagini at Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida, located in Fort Myers.

“Mårten brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is highly qualified as a Physician Assistant,” said Dr. Dennis Sagini. “We are excited to welcome him as part of our team. The addition of his services will help us continue to bring the absolute highest level of quality care to our patients.” In his position as Physician Assistant (PA), Karlsson will be delegated various patient care duties by Dr. Dennis Sagini, a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in care of the hand and upper extremity. This team model is an efficient way to provide high-quality medical care.

Mårten Karlsson has an extensive background in the medical field. Born and raised in Sweden, Mårten came to the U.S. as a high school exchange student in Abilene, TX. After graduation, he attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Karlsson worked as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse while studying to obtain a Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. In 1996, he graduated as a Physician Assistant.

Prior to his position with Dr. Sagini, Karlsson worked as a Physician Assistant in various hospitals throughout Texas. He has also served as an Emergency Department Director and a Family Practice Physician Assistant. He now brings his experience and expertise to Dr. Sagini's practice in his position as Physician Assistant at Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida.

In his free time, Mårten enjoys running, weight lifting, reading zany mysteries, listening to music, and enjoying the ocean.
